Import Passwords from previous versions.
Attention! Version 3.0.0.0 is not compatible with previous versions on the data level - the Safe file, created by the previous version will not be read in version 3.x, and vice versa.
Here are the steps to export data from version 2.3 to 3.0.
1. Install the new version - LSN Password Safe 3.0.0.0 to a new folder - by default [C:/Program Files/LSN Password Safe 3x]. Start the new version of the program, click [OK], open the file [example.saf]. Select all the folders of the file [example.saf] and delete them(a group of folders can be selected with the Shift key).
2. Run the old version and then open your Safe file. Select all the folders with the data (a group of folders can be selected with the Shift key) and copy to the clipboard. The data is copied in encrypted state.
3. Paste the copied folders with the data in the new version of the program. Open the [Main Menu / Tools / Security] and set the options as you like. Please note, the new option [Drive-Dependent Write] is turned off by default. Also it is necessary to rewrite the list of synchronization (if synchronization is used). Save the changed data as any file, except your old Safe file version 2.3 and file [example.saf].
4. Now, both versions can be closed and you can enjoy the new version as usual. While not certain that all data was imported correctly, do not remove the old version and the old Safe file.
